Supercapacitors as they are also known, are a novel energy storage technology that offers high power density, almost instant recharging and very long lifetimes. Jolta Supercapacitors are now delivering significant economic benefits across a wide range of markets including motorsports, automotive, aerospace, heavy industry, heavy transportation, maritime, and renewable and grid.

Supercapacitor vs. Chemical Battery

Supercapacitors store energy in an electric field, rather than in a chemical reaction, like in normal Battery. This allows them to charge and discharge much faster than Battery. They can also survive thousands of charge and discharge cycles, offering much longer life than a chemical battery. Supercapacitors have very little internal resistance (down to 0,12 mΩ), allowing them to work at close to 100% efficiency. They are also significantly lighter than Battery and generally don’t contain harmful chemicals or toxic metals.

Supercapacitors are good partners for lithium-ion Battery and other high energy density storage technologies. With power density up to 60 times greater than Battery, they can be connected in parallel to create combined power supply units. Due to load leveling, the Supercapacitors can significantly expand battery life and improve safety.
